So, I tried the following BAS maps to get an idea of their gameplay, etc. Here are the ones I liked:
mp_rhine_final - German vs. Russian. Basically, a slightly smaller/condensed, snow-based version of rhinevalley. There's more access to houses and some other small variations from the original, but overall a very well made map. Some of the houses have steps and walkways leading up to them, but for the most part, the buildings are the same. If you like Rhinevalley, but not the lag, this one might be a good one to try.
Vehicles: Regular tanks and jeeps
Artillery: 88's
mp_ponyri_winter - German vs. American. A winter variation of the original Ponyri with a slightly smaller/condensed map and access to some places unavailable before. There's less clutter in the German warehouse and the Russian main house is no longer "open", but has corridors. The center MG house also has an added windows for snipers. Overall, another well made map. It may be interesting to plug this one in and see if players find this one more interesting than the original Ponyri.
Vehicles: Regular tanks, a heavy on each side and jeeps
Artillery: 88's
mp_cuf_depot - German vs. Russian. A medium sized daytime map. It has one heavy on each side, lots of jeeps and regular tanks; actually there's no shortage of tanks or jeeps in this map and would make for an interesting battle. It's mainly open fields and woods with some houses. There are machine gun posts, infantry tunnels, 88's and lots of sniping positions. Seems like it would be fun to try this one.

debrecen_s - German vs. Russians. This is a very large night, snow map with woods and plenty of open space. Bigger than Ponyri; not as big as Broadsword, but plenty big. There are regular tanks in this map, jeeps and the bases are spread out nicely. There's a large town in between the German and Russian bases. There are tons of sniping positions and you'll find plenty of familiar Foy houses added in the map along with many newly customized ones as well. There's a large tank tunnel and plenty or roofs to explore. There is also a dusk version of this map with fog called debrecen_d.
Vehicles: Regular tanks and jeeps
Artillery: None
snow_patrol_final - German vs. British. This is a large daytime snow map. Distance visibility is cut down (I guess to look like a snowstorm?) but there are regular tanks, some jeeps and a large missile silo building in the center of the map. In that silo building, there's a cache of weapons in the downstairs room, which may turn the building into a TDM free for all, but it would be interesting. There are also climbing ropes to get on top. There are "hidden" infantry underground tunnels and plenty of ground-level sniping positions. You'll also find machine guns posted throughout the map.
Vehicles: Regular tanks and jeeps
Artillery: None
mp_podole - German vs. Russian. This is a medium daytime map with overcast skies and raindrops. There are random fires and flaming broken tanks throughout. It's primarily open hills with scattered trees, a few open fields (which ironically makes the map seem smaller) and some houses. There is a center river and short wooden bridges to cross (although you can walk and drive through the water) and giant rocks everywhere. There are some issues with tree texturing (lines that show), but it doesn't affect gameplay. This would make for an interesting map to try since nothing in the stock map selection has anything like it.
Vehicles: Regular tanks, a heavy on each side and jeeps
Artillery: 88's
mp_wesel - German vs. American. This is a large daytime open field map with regular tanks, jeeps and 88's. The map has lakes, ponds, rivers, buildings, a broken train bridge, several bridges for crossing and some open fields. The bases are spread out nicely, the texturing is well done and there's a couple downed planes that makes for a primary sniping spot. You'll also find wrecked tanks, immobilized half-tracks (some on fire) and 88's. For the size of this map, there's only a handful of jeeps tanks on each side, but it's a good map none-the-less.
Vehicles: Regular tanks and jeeps
Artillery: 88's
mp_plateau - German vs. American. This is a smaller daytime map with a rather strange feature; a large mountain in the middle. The map is surrounded by woods, with trees spread about, a river to cross (bridges are on the map, but you can drive and walk across the water) a town tucked in the center of the mountain and a waterfall. In the town, there are some high-rise apartments with lots of sniping positions as well. On the German side, there is a base up on the side of the mountain (about 75 feet up) which makes for an interesting twist on the base order. There are 4 ways to get to it, so it's not difficult to get to, but may be challenging to defend. There are regular tanks and jeeps in this map.
Vehicles: Regular tanks and jeeps
Artillery: None
mp_roer - German vs. American. Players who like Foy will be right at home with this map. It's essentially all the buildings from Foy scattered about a large layout and set in winter. There is a giant frozen river separating the two sides with a few bridges to cross. It makes for an interesting challenge because the frozen river is about 30 feet below. You can cross with vehicles, but if you "drop down" you only have a couple places to drive (or walk) back up which may be prime ambush locations. You can climb the center mountain where you'll find prime sniping positions, some extra smoke grenades and panzerschrecks.
Vehicles: Regular tanks and jeeps
Artillery: None
fields_of_glory - German vs. Russian. This is a large daytime map with the bases spread a decent distance apart from each other. Most of the map is open field, so it would favor heavy MG's, riflers and snipers if you're on foot. However, there are regular tanks and jeeps on this map which are vital to crossing this big map. There are some houses (one is actually on fire) and you'll find machine gun posts randomly setup as well as infantry tunnels. One base on each side is a bit difficult to get to. The Russian side is behind a train (with cars you can climb into) and the German base #2 has a dried up river bed to cross with high walls and downed trees to cross over. Overall a large and challenging map to try.
Vehicles: Regular tanks and jeeps
Artillery: None
Here is the link to the zipped maps if you want to try them out for yourself.
NOTE: This is a large download (55.4 MB), so be patient!

Place them in your ou folder and run them by typing the name of the map as they are listed in the descriptions above.
For example, to play debrecen_s, you would pull up the console (~ key) and type map debrecen_s and then hit [Enter].
HAVE FUN!
