I'm glad I met so much junk in my life .. It showed me what they should not be.

It's been a long time.I decided to overclock my GPU a little. But I'm really worried.I'm watching the card's temperature and i saw that before the overclock was - innactive-48-52 degrees, active(playing games) 56-60 degrees. So after the overclock-innactive 50-54,active 57-64(sometimes 67) Will this affect on my card or I should keep it with the overclock. Thank you for the inverted attention.

Overclocking is not a "bad" idea per say, but you have to consider "why" you are overclocking. Whether it's out of necessity or just to get more performance, simply incorporate additional cooling options for your case to counter the effects. You also must consider the GPU type; some manufacturers do a better job of cooling (i.e. better fans, closed cooling, etc.) An example of this would be EVGA (One of the reasons I upgraded to them this time). I believe for a video card GPU, 62 degrees Celsius is the upper limit for a stable idle temperature and 90 degrees Celsius under full load is the upper heat limit. Keep in mind, the higher the temperature, the more likely it is to possibly lessen the life-span of the component. Today's components are much better than from just a few years ago and they support overclocking with less "overhead" than they did before. If you have newer components, I don't think you have much to worry about provided you follow the temp guidelines.

Venom961 Make sure you GPU fans and heat sinks are clean too. Excessive dust and debris in them will cause your temps to shoot through the roof. Had a card that was blocked when i ran a benchmark/ stress test on it, and he temp shot to 80C. Cleaned it off and it ran about 30 Deg cooler under stress Try running something like FURMARK to test it. It will give you a better indication of what your system is doing with graphics when it is all working together. Pete

I recommend a little "house-cleaning" for your PC every 4 months to keep it running cool and clean.

Overclocking - Is that like forgetting to punch out at the factory after your shift is done?

Why even Overclock in the first place...sounds like it could be time to upgrade..

Why even Overclock in the first place...sounds like it could be time to upgrade.. Most people just want an extra performance boost, but sometimes it IS to supplement their PC's shortcomings....
