So i threw caution to the wind earlier this week, applied for a newegg Credit card and went ballsy. AMD fanboy and the Ryzen launch had me superhyped to upgrade my system after three years, and i want something i know will be good for quite some time into the future. Should have all my parts by Friday pcpartpicker.com/list/rhc8m8Pc Case wasnt in their database : www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353104GTX 1070 i already have now, so thtats not something i had to buy, got an offer i couldnt refuse on it from a family friend. Same thing with the case, got that out of a panic buy a few months ago when i was 100% sure the front panel on my current rig had fried. Plan to see if the new Vega GPU's are stellar when AMD releases those and maybe switch the 1070 out for that, wel'l see though.

The Vega GPUs will never be an upgrade for desktops. They will have integrated graphics they are aimed at lap tops.
AMD chips are good already. Only a couple Intel chips are better at gaming.
Once optimization kicks in, I expect AMD to level out just a small tad under in gaming performance, and expand it's already crushing workstation perofrmnance lead.
This until Intel's new chip this year.which should increase IPC by about 10-15%
Overall I recommend the AMD ryzen, its barely behind the top Intel gaming chip, which is a 4 core, Ryzen 1700 - 1800 is 8 core. After game developers code properly for AMD chips ( they have to now, since AMD just came out with a good challenging product, and people will buy.) amd will have almost the same game performance, though I bet the Intel will barely win by a margin in a few game titles, that is until games start taking advantage of more than 4 cores, so AMD is a future proof.

Theyre slated for release in th next 3 months and one was demonstrated at CES this year. www.pcgamesn.com/amd/amd-vega-gpu-specifications
