Current socioeconomic circumstances have made me decide to gear up. Or maybe its the news interviews of people on the street breaking into businesses and taking things that they didn't pay for, that when asked why they were doing this by as reporter on scene, respond "We have the right to loot". Yes this happened in my home state. Words cannot describe the level of anger, infuriation, and disgust I experienced when I see a news reporter interview the lovely members of society doing this shit, and that's their response.
Needless to say, if things go south and these same lovely people decide they have the right to loot my property, or the property of my extended friends and family, I will be there to greet them with my fire"arms" extended wide open.
No stranger to firearms. I have a Springfield 1911 M1A1 Mil-spec .45 pistol, a Winchesters 1300 Ranger 12 ga. shotgun, and a Mosin-Nagant manf. 1942, Itchesvk. That said, im not a gun fanatic, just a normal everyday chap who believes in being armed and has a decent enough knowledge to know how to handle, clean, disassemble and own them responsibly.
This is the first "Assault" rifle ive ever gone for so I decided to build one myself for fun and to get in depth familiarity with the platform. Quotations around the assault because only dumbasses think whether a firearm has a "military style design" or not is something different that needs to be regulated. I can "assault" and invade your house by kicking the door open and pistol whip the shit out of you with a .22 revolver and dispatch multiple individuals by the time i'm done. Does that make it an Assault Pistol? Sorry im on a rant...
My question to any of you more familiar with this type of stuff is. Should I be comfortable assembling it myseld? or are there just certain parts you would say, Hey, get a professional gunsmith to do that no matter how confident you are before the damn things blows up when you first try firing it!
Ive read of making sure to check spacing , lower/upper receiver alignment etc. As ive said I have a decent familiarity with firearms, and maintaining them. I also like to think I can read some guides and have enough sense to do this or that, without being in a rush, to make sure all the parts of this platform are assembled and adjusted correctly before firing it. just want to see if any of you are more of a gun nut than I am and can give advise based on experience not to let my confidence override my sense of caution.
Anyway I got the following:
Sharp Bros lower receiver. Fully stripped lower receiver. Has the Helm of a Spartan machined on the front where the mag goes in. I saw it at a local gun store while looking at lowers, fell in love, had to have it, price be damned. I also understand its machined from a solid billet of aluminum and much more rugged/dependable based on that so yeah:
Palmetto State Armory Rifle Kit, PSA 16" 5.56 NATO 1:7 Midlength Nitride 13.5" Lightweight M-Lok MOE EPT Rifle Kit w/ MBUS Sight Set, from Glorious leaders stomping grounds (on order to be shipped in a couple days):
