This is a spectacular time for people who like star gazing/staring at the heaven's. During sunset today, if you have a Solar Telescope or even a welder's mask, take a look at the sun. You will see Venus transit across the solar disc(most likely will just look like a small darkened out circle on the sun's surface). This is not due to happen again until the year 2117, i'm going to miss it myself cause all the damn clouds. For more info on viewing times and where to expect to see it on the solar disc, refer to - www.spaceweather.com/

I know it had nothing to do with it, or maybe it did, but on the drive home from work just now I cleared the treeline and saw the reddest moon I'd ever seen. Very cool/creepy

Take into account the fact that even with millions of people knowing about this event, very few have ever seen it this way! It's truly fascinating when you consider the following: The planet Venus is 7200 miles in diameter and orbits the Sun at over 22 miles per second (~78,000 miles per hour), the Sun is roughly 865,000 miles in diameter (or 4.6 billion feet across) and Venus is roughly 67 million miles from the Sun. From the video, it looks extremely close though doesn't it?
