i wish they would come back and redo this games graphics(just like they are doing for Halo1) and leave the game play the same, except maybe only allowing 1 arty per team at a time. (kinda like cod4 where u cant call in airstrike until the last one is clear, however allow them to be separate and not have to wait for enemies airstrikes/choppers! Cause are we really using the same airforce or something? COME ON!)

No doubt, the game is dying but it's a slow death. It's amazing how many Euro's and Latin Americans play on this server. I think thats what is keeping this server going, as well as the fact that the game is still in production and relatively cheap.
Two years is my guess, but in the meantime, I can keep getting my hit of video game-crack right here at /-/ .

id say 5 more, ALOT of the players are european, as stated, and prolly in thier 30's to 50's. If they have nothing better to do now, i cant see em changing in 10 years ;D

Considering it's been going since October 29th, 2003; I'd say another 2 years to round out at a decade. BTW, how many of you knew: LUSTRUM - 5 years DECADE - 10 years CENTURY - 100 years. MILLENNIUM - 1000 years ? I bet no one knew the LUSTRUM!

HHmmm, how long will it last eh?
I believe you must approach this question keeping in mind the current state of the socio-economic state of the world.
In other words, as long as unemployment is as high as it is, the game will probably continue, especially in Europe and South America.
The key to the game, ultimately, is the master server, as long as it is up there should be some players. What criteria must be met for the company to terminate the master server? I have no idea.

I think they'll eventually make a remake of this game with better options.

My question (having not played many in the COD series) is what is it about COD:UO that keeps people playing? What went wrong as the series progressed?

the game will never die it will just be less players. and if you asked me I think we are already there. top 25 server in uo has about 8 people average the others jump down to 5 top 50 1 person. let's say the top 20 servers have 15 people average on the clock that is 300 players online. 400 is not the total numbers of players in uo but it's about an average of players at all times. this game it's not dead but it's not populated anymore. We are already there it's just a matter of time before we see less players online at a time. If you ask me. we are already alone. Not to mention i'm including 1.4 and 1.5 together
