Hi i am not a tech head in anyway so if anyone can advise it would be very much appreciated, I`m looking for a new Pc (current PC is around 15 years old Dell 720 running vista) its too slow when server is busy and I think its been upgraded as much as it can have been. i`m looking at another Dell and Ive narrowed it down to these two options and would like to know which is better from the two CPU`s listed below,
AMD Ryzen™ 9 3950X (16-Core, 64MB L3 Cache, Max Boost Clock of 4.7GHz)
10th Gen Intel® Core™ i9 10900KF (10-Core, 20MB Cache, 3.7GHz to 5.3GHz w/Thermal Velocity Boost)
many thanks in advance
Sherman

Im usually an AMD fan but the 10900k is the better option.
Is the PC just for gaming?
Those are both higher end CPU's with core counts that are way more than any general use or gaming pc will ever use. More so for CAD workstations or Video editing , stuff like that.

Ah ok.
Well if you can make a 15 year old computer running Vista(*gag*) work for you, then id say those are easily going to last you 5 - 10 years or more.
I just built my brother a new gaming computer and he was using an old HP with a Phenom II x6 that was a hand me down from 2012 and it ran Destiny 2, Final Fantasy X1 online with no problem, so I can see it lasting you for a long time.
I do a new build every 3 -4 years, cant fight the itch to stay somewhat up to date.

Oh goodness what a time to buying pc parts. Competition is fierce. AMD holds a clear advantage when it comes to Games + any sort of heavy lifting. I haven’t kept up in a couple of months but I doubt intel managed to come back in that little time.
Go for AMD
What kinds of games are we talking here? That can help narrow down what exactly CPU you should get.
Well I’ve just read your post a little more. They are both good choices rest assured.
I’m building a PC myself soon too. I’ll be going AMD myself. PC is officially 9 years old!

Hi, I`ve been informed today by Dell that rather than delivering my new PC this coming Friday they have moved the delivery date to The 15th of April, yes April !! I ordered my new pc on Jan 10th, so to say !`m disappointed is an understatement.
I`m stuck with my old xps 720 for another 8 weeks, playing on minimum settings is shit, so was wondering if anyone knows what would be the max graphics card I could fit and that would work in my old PC until my new ones arrives, obviously dont want to spend too may ££$$
any help would be appreciated thanks
....managed to buy an old GTX 470 1280 mb, hopefully it will last me until new pc arrives and give me some better settings than my fx1700, fingers crossed

good morning, or afternoon. I`ve had a message from Dell, telling me they cannot suply the intel 10900KF processor to complete my order, but can let me have the Ryzen 5950 PC in another 6 weeks time, (this has been dragging on since the start of Jan). Global shortages willing, in the mean time I have bought a HP pro, i5 2400 @3.1 ghz, 8 gb ram with a AMD Radeon 6570, and a 300 watt power supply, great little PC for £100 and was just wondering if anyone knows what the max graphics card i can fit in it would be, until my new pc arrives, or even if it will take a good card and maybe I can cancel my order altogether and save a few £thousand. ....... CPU has been located

If you got a price secured from december / january, i would not back out of it.
GPU prices are legit stupid atm and i doubt prices or anything will go back to normal within a years timeframe.
I got me a prebuilt PC for $1900 off amazon in December with a ryzen 3600,RTX 3080, 16 gigs ram, 1 tb ssd. RTX 3080 video cards are now going for $2000 just by themselves on Ebay due to this whole global supply shortage B S.
Id kill for a 5950 ryzen, thats still literally like the top tier CPU u can get from AMD , and they are #1 for gaming atm.
Id wait it out cuz once you get it i think youll be blown away at the performance.

Hi those links are dead and are sending you to some shady website to download some shit adware, do not use those links.
Unfortunately, you will have to buy an external cd / dvd drive to install via cd, or purchase the game through Steam.
I use Steam for all my games and never had any issues. UO runs $20 on steam, not sure what that converts to in Euros.

Hi, so last night i managed to get back on UO I was so disappointed with my new pc as it would only achieve 85-120 fps and although image quality seemed better than my old 512mb card, performance seemed no better at all, I`ve benchmarked it this morning on Heaven and its registered between 61 -743, any suggestions to help and quell my frustrations would be much appreciated thanks in advance
